Partner With Us
This ministry began from a simple desire: to help remove language barriers to trustworthy biblical teaching. To this end, we consider translation requests for biblically faithful Christian resources, including devotionals, books, sermons, and worship-related materials. At this time, all translation work is completed personally and on a part-time volunteer basis. Because of this, I cannot guarantee project acceptance or turnaround times.Requests are carefully and prayerfully considered to ensure they align with the mission and doctrinal convictions of Every Tribe & Tongue. The only language currently offered is Spanish, but we are praying the Lord will add to our number.Thank you for your grace, patience, and understanding.

What He Did - Ephesians 2:1-10
“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience - among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved - and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”- Ephesians 2:1-10 ESVAs a nurse, I've seen many people die. From pediatric patients with cancer, to 18-year-olds that shot themselves in the head because they had no hope, to the older patients suffering the loss of memory and life. It's a harsh reality. Death comes to all of us, it already did. Paul lets us know in his letter to Romans that it happened before we were even born:“12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men[a] because all sinned “ Romans 5:12And if there's one thing that all of these deaths had in common?
It's that no matter how much the person didn't want to die, no matter how much those around us would work to save this life, there was nothing we could do.The medical definition of death, biological death, is the permanent/irreversible cessation of life. After someone dies in the hospital, we take care of the body, clean it. And if there's one thing, I can tell you it's that a corpse can do nothing. It can’t move, think, much less save itself. And once death arrives, everything is decay; everything starts to wither away. This is depressing, I know. But we need to understand the bad news so we can receive the good news. If only there were a solution to such a depressing state. Yes, we’re dead, and there’s nothing WE can do about it. But… if someone could, but… but verse four…But God
And that is the theme today. But GodBecause just that, those 2 words, carry so much weight to them. Because it means that if it were not for God, we'd be stuck. But God. HE did something. To know what God did. We have to really know what our condition was.“1. And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked…”We have to remember that Paul wrote the letter to Ephesians. To a group of believers. This isn't meant for unbelievers that still walk in trespasses and sins. This is reminding believers of that hopeful eternal promise that those two words, but God, bring.
And so…“…Following the course of this world. Following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience.“We were. Were dead, past tense, in which you once walked. Are we still walking? In those? Does the fruit of our life reflect that we follow the course of this world? What do we nurture our soil with? That's what our fruit will show.“3. Among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and mind. And were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”We all once lived in the passions of our flesh. Again, we see the past tense, which means we're no longer carrying out the desires of the body and mind, and we no longer live in the passions of our flesh. So that begs the questions:
- What is your passion? What does your body and mind long for?
- Are we children of wrath? Or were we? Children of wrath. Like the rest of mankind.“For all have sinned. And all fall short of the glory of God.” - Romans 3:23I have to pause here for a second and think…What is the consequence of this?“ For the wages of sin is death. But the FREE gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” - Romans 6:23.My kids will sometimes come up to me and say, “Daddy, my brother did so and so, and it’s unfair. It's just unfair. I don't deserve this.” And my answer, maybe a little harsh, but I will ask them: “What does Romans say we all deserve? What are the wages of sin?”DEATHBUT… GODHere are those wonderful, beautiful, amazing words that change it all. Verse 4; but God. BUT GOD.
That means that he made a way out of this. He transforms death into life.“4. But God, being rich in mercy…”Mercy, meaning he does not give us what we deserve, which is death. And then here comes the guy in church that always has to say something… The guy that everyone else at the church of Ephesus thinks “here comes ANOTHER question”- But Paul, WHY? Why would he do this? It makes no sense, why would a Holy, just God fix this mess??So the Spirit answers through Paul“…because of the great love with which he loved us. 5. Even though we were dead in our trespasses…”Even though we offended him. Our sin offends him. To the extreme, even though we deserve death, he loved us. But not only that, he…“made us alive together with Christ [because] by grace we have been saved”.Grace…
It's that undeserved gift. It's not only the mercy that we didn't get what we deserved, on top of that, he gave us so much more that we never even then came close to deserving.“6. And then he raised us up with him, and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.What a blessing to be raised up with Christ and know that we will be seated with him.And why? Why would he do all of this? (Here comes the questions guys again)…“7. So that in the coming ages, He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace and kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”It's incredible, because we are living this right now. We are in the coming ages, because He is showing right now His immeasurable riches of grace and kindness. In the Spanish, it says, “siglos venideros”, centuries to come, and we are centuries away from Christ, and still experiencing God's grace and kindness toward us in Christ Jesus through His sacrifice on that cross.“8. For by grace we have been saved, through faith…”Because we believe with all our hearts, with all our minds, with all our souls, with all that we are that Christ died on that cross for our sins and rose on the third day. We confess who we are and who we were, snd we surrender solely to Him, knowing that it is only through His undeserved grace and mercy that we are here.“…And this is not of your own doing, it is a gift of God.”Grace is a gift.“9. Not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”If I had just a single percentage, even the saying yes. Then I could say, "hey, I did something." But let's go back to the beginning, what can a dead person do? NOTHING. That person can't even nod, yes. They can't just come back to life on their own. If Jesus had asked Lazarus, "hey, do you want to come back from the dead?", what would Lazarus' corpse have answered? NOTHING, not until Jesus brought him back. He just did it, for His glory. Nos so anyone could boast. Then there is the other extreme, those that wallow in the self pity of:
“But I'm such a sinner, but I have done so much evil, but how could God look upon me?”Well, Verse 10, Paul gives us the answer as to why. Why God looks for us and chooses us and opens our eyes to see His glory.“10. Because we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Which God prepared beforehand so that we should walk in them."
He chose us; He created us with that specific purpose. To be a chosen people that would bring Him glory and to gladly delight in Him and His glory. He made us, chose to make us, with our weaknesses and quirks, strengths, and everything in between so that we may confess them, so that we may rely on Him. So that we may walk in those good works in Christ Jesus. And if He chose those good works for us, it means that all of it is His plan, and He knows that with Jesus we can do all things according to His will.
“For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” - Philippians 2:13Galatians 2:20 is the only response to this: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ, who lives in me. And the life that I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself for me.”
